2023 TOP-RATED NON-PROFIT BY GREATNONPROFITS.ORG
Jul 24, 2008: SAN JOSE, CA — Remember how something as simple as a comic book could help make your day a little brighter? Whether it was a super hero saving the day, Betty and Veronica outwitting Archie, or classic comics including westerns or love stories, they still bring smiles to folks of all ages.
Operation: Care and Comfort is asking folks to donate comic books, new or used, funny or not, to be shipped to our troops in care packages on an ongoing basis. They are easy to read because they are short stories, and they cost very little to add to our shipments weight-wise. So, clean out your closet or garage, take a trip to your local comic book store, check EBAY (“lots” of comics are often very inexpensive!) or simply subscribe to them and have them shipped directly to us! Perhaps your local library has old comics that they can donate!
Please feel free to include a note with your donation – paper clip it to the cover or insert it inside.
Comics books are considered “media” and may be shipped to us using the media rate at the post office. This will save you money! Please mail comics to us at:
Operation: Care and Comfort

Funny pages from the newspaper are also welcome! Thank you for supporting our troops! Please feel free to email Julie at troopsupport@comcast.net if you have any questions!
About Operation: Care and Comfort: Since April 2003, the all-volunteer Operation: Care and Comfort program, unique to the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of American Red Cross, has shipped more than 200 tons of care packages for distribution to Marine, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard personnel deployed in conflict regions. Adopted military units receive care packages monthly, until they return home. Operation: Care and Comfort is a member of the Department of Defense’s “America Supports You” program.
